Musical Theatre Dance Technique Class

6 week sessions for 5th - 8th graders

Interested in developing your dancing skills for the theatre, but don't want to commit to an entire year at a dance studio? This class is designed 5th through 8th graders who have a desire to improve their performance ability through dance! Students will work on musical theatre jazz and tap dance techniques. Sign up for just one session or all three. New combinations will be introduced in each session. Classes taught by Virginia Rep's own Education Associate, Jason Sandahl.

Jason SandahlJason Sandahl is a native of Louisiana where he graduated from Louisiana State University with a degree in theatre performance with a minor in dance. While at LSU, he performed in professional, student, and community productions including Hair, A Chorus Line, and Cats. In 2007 he was a member of the LSU Dance Ensemble and in 2008 he was a part of the original production of Love Still Unrequited which performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Upon graduating, he worked as a principle dancer with Theatre West Virginia. In addition to dancing in their 4 summer shows, he performed small bit roles in some of the shows.

Since moving to Richmond, he has performed with rva dance collective, RADAR, and is currently a member/choreographer for Dogwood Dance Project. In addition to performing, Jason has taught dance in the Richmond area for the past 7 years. He has been working with Virginia Rep's education programs since the fall of 2013.
