Meredith Stanley Scott
Virginia Excellence in Theatre Award

We are honored to present the fifth annual Virginia Excellence in Theatre Award to Meredith Stanley Scott

Born in Richmond, Meredith Stanley studied theatre at Brillantmont International High School in Switzerland, and returned to Virginia where she majored in Theatre at Hollins. She apprenticed with the Virginia Museum Theatre, starring in several shows including Tartuffe, The Cherry Orchard, and Dark of the Moon. She moved to NYC to continue her education at AAMDA, returning home to marry Alfred Scott.

Meredith began working at Barksdale, appearing in The Odd Couple and A Flea in Her Ear. She put her acting career on hold to raise their two daughters, but worked tirelessly on the Board of Directors at SPARC during that time. She also served with TheatreVirginia for over a decade and served as President during the 97-99 seasons.

On stage and off, few Richmond theatre leaders have worked longer, harder, and with greater success than Meredith Stanley Scott. It is with great pride and appreciation that we present her with the Virginia Excellence in Theatre Award 2018.
