Theatre Administration Internship

Summer 2018

The Theatre Administration Summer Intern will gain valuable experience working in a professional theatre environment while performing the following duties:

  • Assist the accounting department with accounts payable and special events revenues and expenses
  • Assist Concessions/Gift Shop Manager with weekly inventory and supply ordering
  • Assist Manager of Admin Affairs with weekly reporting and daily accounting
  • Prepare and help maintain the front of house for all venues
  • Train with Tessitura software
  • House manage select Virginia Rep productions
  • Assist with financial reporting
  • Additional projects as assigned


  • Prior customer service and/or sales experience required
  • Basic knowledge of accounting and finance
  • Fluency in all Microsoft Office products; especially Excel
  • Comfort with Quickbooks or ability to train quickly
  • Work comfortably and effectively in a diverse, collaborative environment
  • Strong interest in theatre and/or working for a nonprofit organization preferred

General Information:

Duration of Internship: May 29 – August 20, 2018
Compensation: Interns will receive a bi-weekly stipend and local housing is available for those Interns in need of such. For those Interns who are able to house themselves locally, the stipend will be $180/week. For those Interns in need of VA Rep housing, the stipend will be $130/week. Each Intern will share a bedroom with another Intern (non-co-ed) in a fully furnished apartment.
