The evening’s entertainer, Felicia Curry, is an award winning, DC-based actor, singer, and local Emmy-nominated host of WETA Arts on WETA/PBS. Felicia made her Broadway debut in the Tony-nominated revival of Into The Woods, then spent much of 2023 in the subsequent National Tour which began performances at the John F. Kennedy Center. Most recently seen on stage as Flotus in POTUS at Arena Stage, she is an RTCC Award winner for Celie in The Color Purple, and a RTCC nominee for Lorrell in Dreamgirls and Delores Van Cartier in Sister Act, all presented by Virginia Repertory Theatre.
Curry received a Helen Hayes Award for LELA & CO. at Factory 449 where she is a company member. She is also a Resident Company Member at Everyman Theatre and an Artistic Associate at Ford’s Theatre. She has a Berkshire Theatre Critics Award, an Anderson Hopkins Award for Excellence in Theatre Arts, and is an AUDELCO nominee for Queens Girl in the World at Abingdon Theatre, off-Broadway. She has performed with the National Symphony Orchestra, the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra and, last year she hosted and sang the opening number for Broadway in the Park at Wolf Trap with Lea Salonga and Megan Hilty. Curry has been named one of “12 DC Stage Dynamos” by The Washington Post, and one of “DC’s Biggest Theatre Stars” by Washingtonian Magazine.
Curry was accompanied by Anthony Smith, former Music Supervisor at Virginia Repertory Theatre, serving now as Supervisor of Music and Sound at Red Mountain Theatre in Birmingham, Alabama. In addition to his frequent collaborations with the Chamber Music Society of Virginia, The Virginia Chorale, and the Virginia Arts Festival, Anthony has also performed with the Alabama, Richmond, and Virginia Symphonies.
