Access for the Blind and Vision Impaired

Tactile Tours Before Audio Described Performances

We offer performances dedicated to Theatre Access for the Blind and Vision Impaired. This accessibility option offers patrons who cannot see the action on the stage an opportunity to participate in a pre-show tactile tour. These tours let patrons walk the stage, feel the set, the costumes, the props, and meet the actors.

Audio Described Performances

Virginia Rep is delighted to partner with Virginia Voice to offer select Audio Described performances for patrons with blindness or advanced visual impairment. Using a headset, patrons will hear audio describers provide a live, descriptive summary of the visual elements of the performance (e.g., costumes, scenery, movement) in between the dialogue performed by the actors.
