Education
Virginia Rep’s fun-filled summer day camps are full of creative exploration and imaginative play. Our theatre camps provide exciting performance opportunities for students K – 12. These camps are designed with the novice and seasoned performer in mind. With instruction by some of Virginia’s finest theatre artists and educators, your dramatic student will have a theatrical experience like no other!
Virginia Rep is a nonprofit organization, and we strive to make our education programming as affordable as possible, a. Financial Assistance application is available by request. (The deadline for applying for summer camp assistance is May 1 each year. Please apply early before spaces fill up.) Contact Vivian Schwartz.

Spotlights Camp
Summer 2027
June 7 - 11, 2027 for ages 11 - 17. A specialized camp for performers looking to get a little deeper into the art of professional theatre. Campers will focus on building their audition package, honing their preparedness for dance calls, and marketing themselves professionally.
June 14 - 25, 2027 for ages 5 to 11. Each day includes drama, music, dance and a production craft. Campers are divided into three groups by grade level (or age) for the majority of their activities, but come together in rehearsals for the showcase-style performance.
August 9-20, 2027 for ages 5 to 11. Each day includes drama, music, dance and a production craft taught by Virginia Rep's theatre professionals and educators.
Summer Showtime Camp
Summer 2027
July 5 - 17, 2027 for ages 13-17. By audition. Summer Showtime is Virginia Rep’s only audition based camp. After the intensive two weeks of camp, the Summer Showtime cast will take their places in the spotlight for four public performances.
Young Performers Institute
Summer 2027
July 26 - August 6, 2027 for ages 12-17. Each day, participants will rotate through performance courses, allowing students to connect with one another and their instructors to build a strong and dynamic ensemble.
Join us at our new Education space at 23 W. Broad St., across the street from the November Theatre, for unique opportunities to explore, learn, and have fun.
Move With Me!

Tag-In Improv!

A dynamic, fast-paced workshop designed to build stage confidence, rapid-fire creativity, and public speaking skills. Drop in class at 23 W. Broad St., Richmond, VA 23220 for 6th- 12th grade

Rising Star Workshop
Always Available
For Pre-K to first grade and parents. Students and parents will receive an introduction to performance and get to experience and explore their stage presence, playing with an ensemble, and taking direction from a Teaching Artist.
Tiny Tales
Always Available
Children's stories come alive as students ages 3 - 8 delve into the imaginary worlds of their favorite books. Using age-appropriate creative drama, Virginia Rep teaching artists guide participants through an interactive and multi-sensory journey.
Mobile Masterclass
Always Available
Customized theatre programs for elementary, middle and high schools. Bring a subject to life with tailor-made activities, games and take homes thematically linked to a topic of your choice.
Early Explore
Enjoy a blend of science and storytelling for young minds!
At the Science Museum of Virginia
Led by Virginia Rep’s education specialists, these interactive programs feature props, interpretive elements and characters.
Children five and younger and their caregivers are encouraged to explore STEM topics together by using their voice, body and imagination as tools. Virginia Rep will lead guests in story development and improv techniques to create memorable experiences filled with discovery.
Early Explore is a partnership between Virginia Repertory Theater and the Science Museum. It offers performance-based programming for preschool-age students.
