More than a tribute to the legendary country singer, this heartfelt musical is based on a true story about Cline's friendship with Louise Seger, a fan from Houston. Louise befriended Patsy in a Texas honky-tonk in 1961, and continued a correspondence with Cline until her death. Enjoy the down home country humor, and some of the finest songs ever written: Crazy, I Fall to Pieces, Sweet Dreams, Just a Closer Walk with Thee, How Great Thou Art, and more.

Dedication: Dr. E. Bruce Heilman

With the greatest affection, appreciation and respect, we dedicate this production to the memory of Dr. E. Bruce Heilman, a Kentucky native who knew his way around a country standard better than most. When they were students and theatre majors at the University of Richmond (Phil double-majored in business), Phil (Virginia Rep's Managing Director) and Bruce (Founding Producer) played leading roles in a major production of The Student Prince. In the titular role, Bruce played opposite Nancy Heilman, daughter of the University President, E. Bruce Heilman. Thereafter, Dr. Heilman knew Phil and Bruce on a first-name basis, always calling out to them on campus, and supporting their various roles in student leadership. That was an honor at the time. But 5 years later, and then 10 years, then 20, eventually even 45 years after Phil and Bruce graduated from U of R, whenever they bumped into Dr. Heilman around town, unexpectedly, he would still instantly recognize them and call out to them by name. THAT, they came to realize, was not only an honor to them, it was an almost unbelievable achievement on the part of Dr. Heilman. Dr. Heilman was one of those great educators who truly cared about his students, and knew them, and was genuinely interested in the things that made them tick. He ALWAYS asked how Theatre IV was going, then Barksdale, eventually Virginia Rep. He always took the time to take notice, to value, and to credit his students' passions and hard work. We will be forever grateful for his generous spirit, his intellectual curiosity, and his vibrant, razor-sharp mind. His contributions to our theatre and our city will last for generations. Goodbye, Mr. Chips.
