Virginia Repertory Theatre

What We Do

Virginia Repertory Theatre is a regional professional theater headquartered in downtown Richmond, and is one of the largest performing arts organizations in Central Virginia.

Virginia Rep stages three primary seasons: the Signature Season at the Sara Belle and Neil November Theatre downtown at 114 West Broad St., the Barksdale Season at Hanover Tavern at Hanover Courthouse Rd., and the Children's Season at the Jessie Bogese Theatre in our new Virginia Rep Center for Arts and Education at 4204 Hermitage Rd.

Virginia Rep Center also houses our camps, classes, workshops, and rehearsals for educational touring. We tour children's shows and provides educational programming to schools throughout Virginia and to major performing arts centers across the country.

Virginia Rep recently celebrated the 70th anniversary of its founding in Hanover County in 1953 as Barksdale Theatre. In 2012, after over a decade of sharing one staff, Barksdale Theatre and Theatre IV merged to form Virginia Rep.
