"Richmond audiences are in for a treat... An entertinaing, high-energy take on an early Hitchcock classic"

STYLE Weekly

"Director Nathaniel Shaw has staged the show with nimble skill, taking full advantage of the theatrical tropes and cinematic flourishes that add a layer of spoof."

Sifter

The Tony and Drama Desk Award-winning play mixes a Hitchcock masterpiece with a juicy spy novel, and adds a dash of Monty Python, to create a fast-paced whodunit for anyone who loves the magic of theatre. This play is packed with nonstop laughs, over 150 zany characters (played by a ridiculously talented cast of four), an onstage plane crash, and even some good old-fashioned romance!

Dedication: Tom Bass

Tom BassWith great affection and respect, we dedicate this production to the memory of our irreplaceable friend, Tom Bass. Tom joined the Barksdale family here at Hanover Tavern in 1967’s The Night of the Iguana. In his second show that same year, he played the Telephone Man in Barefoot in the Park. His 17th and final show at Hanover Tavern came 39 years later in 2006. Again, Tom knocked it out of the park … as the Delivery Man in Barefoot in the Park, a slightly smaller role than Telephone Man. The point is, Tom worked tirelessly as an actor, stage manager, and always-there-when-you-need-him jack-of-all-trades. He was a cornerstone of this theatre. Were there other artists with more talent? He’d be the first to laugh and say, “Heck yeah, lots of ‘em.” But was there anyone kinder, friendlier, harder working, more dependable, genuine, honest, or more of an all ‘round terrific guy? Not one. We love Tom Bass. We open our hearts to his wife Carlene, their three children, four grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. With each of them, we will miss him forever.
